Rush to the train...
this happens every morning. today was more of a rush than we've had in a while. finishing my coffee in my jammies at 8:24, out the door @ 8:35. Teeth brushed, fully clothed, lunch packed, pockets filled, train pass adorned. being a nobody takes so much work, I can't imagine what being a somebody must be like. and, when I say somebody, I mean sobody that doesn't have to haul butt to get to an office and sit their tail in a rolly chair facing a computer for 8 hours. it sounds dramatic, but sometimes I envy people that had some of my starting jobs as back room stockboy, a barista, a deli slicer, a busboy, a waiter...sometimes i'm glad that i'm not doing that stuff. I want a pony. not really. who needs a pony...do you see that fluff of doggie goodness on my wife's lap? that's good stuff right there. anyway, looking into an office window from the train, I see a guy with a coffee mug in front of the computer. I wonder what time he goes home? does the view of the trains drive him crazy or break up the monotony? is he happy he has a window? I would be. did he fall in loved with a woman on the train one day and now every morning he looks to see if she's there? but she's not, because she was visiting guests from out of town and now he will be sitting at that window until he retires wondering where she is each moment? poor guy. truth is, he probably goes home at 4:30, get's to spend time with his wife and kids, and makes 100K a year. that's a standard that everyone can thrive for in this area. a nice mid-line life. i'd buy in...can you retire on that?
